Gluten Free Budget Tip
Ok so I’m going to let you know about a little gluten free budget tip of mine…
I love carbs! Fruit is also my favourite but today let’s focus on carbs! Now that I’ve cleared that up let me tell you my little secret. Pete and I both love a good pasta dish, especially on a cold winters night when we’re craving something hearty. Anyway, gluten free pasta is getting better taste and texture wise (I’ll let you know what my favourite brands are some other time) but it can be a little pricey and also my stomach can only tolerate it every now and then. We do have zoodles as a substitute but… if you’re looking for another pasta substitute grab yourself some rice noodles!!
- They are so cheap!! ( I use the 10mm rice noodles) It cost me around $3.00 for a 400g packet at our local supermarket.
- They taste great with a Bolognese sauce.
- They now come as a brown rice option too.
- They go a really long way! I can get a generous sized dinner for 3 plus 3 take away containers out of one packet! That’s 3 extra meals in my freezer!
So, as you can see, if you’re on a tight budget, you’re wanting a meal to be filling and go a long way plus be a tasty gluten free dish then go out, grab yourself some mince, tinned tomatoes and some rice noodles and you have yourself a cheap meal for under $12!!
