Romeo’s Foodland
When I first started eating this way I found it very difficult to find foods that I could eat without containing lots of additives or sugar. Like I’ve mentioned before, that’s one of the main reasons for starting to experiment with recipes and making my own foods. However, over the years this clean way of eating has become more known and perhaps more popular as well. It’s now getting easier to find what I’m looking for in supermarkets and health food stores.
There is a particular supermarket here in SA that stock majority of the ingredients I need and provide a wide variety of options. I still need to stand and read the backs of packaging to suss out the ingredients and if they are ‘safe’ for me to eat or cook with, however there are a lot of options for me to choose from which makes my weekly shop that much easier and convenient.
Romeo’s Foodland seems to be the best supermarket to buy all of the things I need. They stock the coconut yoghurt I eat, nut butters, a variety of sheep’s milk cheeses and yoghurts, coconut ice cream, organic meat, vegetables and teas, almond milk, gluten free bread options and they even have a couple of aisles full of health food items! They are pretty good at searching out and stocking requested items and they label a lot of their deli products if they are gluten free for ease when shopping.
These supermarkets are located in different parts of SA and I recommend searching one out closest to you, plus by shopping there you’re supporting a proudly owned South Australian company! My favourite Romeo’s Foodland is the Fairview Green Foodland in the northeastern suburbs of Adelaide. I know the North Adelaide one on O’Connell street is pretty good too! Give them a go and see what you think!
