Easter For Sensitive Bellies
It is that time of year again when we are surrounded by chocolate in all shapes and sizes! It can be quite overwhelming for chocolate lovers trying to follow a DF, GF and RSF (refined sugar-free) lifestyle! For a long time I settled with the fact that I would just miss out on the special chocolatey treats the Easter Bunny brings everyone else each year. That was until I found raw chocolate…
My friend and colleague send me a text message the week before Easter this year asking me if I knew of any good DF, GF and RSF treats that she could buy a relative with food sensitivities for Easter. That’s when I thought I would share the options that I have discovered out there…
PANA CHOCOLATE
Pana Chocolate comes in lots of different flavours and contains no preservatives. It is cane sugar-free, low GI and is GF, DF and soy free. It is made locally in Australia and I think it tastes great!
It seems as though they previously sweetened their chocolate with dark agave nectar, however it now looks like they are starting to sweeten it with coconut nectar. A few years ago agave nectar seemed like a good cane sugar substitute, however research is now showing that this isn’t always the best option which is why I think some companies are now changing their products to be sweetened with coconut nectar or other natural sweeteners. I don’t know enough about coconut nectar to make a comment but I am looking into it so stay tuned for a sweeteners post!
It is a good treat to spoil yourself with on the odd occasion especially when it’s Easter time!
LOVING EARTH CHOCOLATE
Loving Earth Chocolate is another great option. It is cane sugar-free (some are also sweetened with coconut sugar and some with agave) and it is GF, DF, low GI and Vegan. The cacao is organic and the chocolate bars are made in Australia as well.
This chocolate is quite rich in flavour but is great for using in desserts or having as a little treat to spoil yourself!
I am able to purchase both of these chocolate bars in most health food stores. Go Vita health food stores are a regular stockist.
Enjoy!
