Sweet – Sweet Corn
Since changing the way I eat and cook, I have taken time to check packaging labels and ingredients – today was another one of those times that paid off in doing this…
Today while at the supermarket, I passed the tinned food aisle and thought I would take a moment to look at the ingredients in some of the tinned vegetables. Majority of the tinned vegetables included salt and some of the tinned lentils included salt and tomato puree even though the label just stated ‘tinned lentils’. I then checked the tins of corn and found sugar added to the ingredients! I went through all the brands on the shelves and every brand except one had sugar! The only brand that didn’t have sugar in it was the brand photographed below.
I wanted to share this information with you incase anyone is interested in purchasing sugar-free tinned corn rather than one with added sugar and salt. Obviously the healthiest option is to go for fresh vegetables but in a busy world with little spare time, we sometimes reach for the healthiest convenient option – we just need to make sure it is the healthy convenient option.
